With over 28 million Australians active on social media, leveraging digital platforms is essential for small business owners.

Maintaining an online presence is key, as younger consumers increasingly turn to Instagram and TikTok instead of traditional search engines.
3 Tips to Get Started on Socials
Put Your Business on Facebook
With over 3 billion monthly users, Facebook remains a crucial platform and if you're creating content then that will be indexed by Google and show up in searches. It's also good for developing a following, and gives you a platform to differentiate your services from everyone else.
Create a Website & Link Social Media
Whilst it's tempting to use your facebook page as a pseudo website for your business, having a social media presence alone isn’t enough. A website adds credibility and ensures search engines can find your business.
Target a Specific Demographic
Different platforms attract different audiences. Facebook might be the biggest of the social media platforms when it comes to active users, but it is generally more popular with an older audience of users between 25-34 and especially with over 55 year olds. On the other hand Instagram and Tik Tok are also global social media giants with 2.4 billion and 1 billion monthly active users respectively, but are popular with slightly different age groups - 70% of instagram's audience are under 35 whilst Tik Tok is particularly effective for engaging younger users between 16-24.
3 Tips for TikTok Success

Keep it real and simple – Don't stage your content, just show your actual work. Remember some of the most highly effective content is quick and simple.
Choose your tunes – TikTok clips are often watched with audio on, so choosing some good music to complement the content is key.
The more the merrier – Consistent, regular posting improves your audience engagement.
