From March 29th 2021, new standards for Switchboard compliance have been introduced in Victoria. All power outlets and lighting circuits in a rental property must be connected to:
A circuit breaker that complies with AS/NZS 3000 for wiring, and
A residual current device that complies with AS/NZS 3190 or AS/NZS 61008.1 or AS/NZS 61009.1.
(f) Switchboard and electrical equipment have no conductor insulation deterioration;
(g) RCDs, MCBs, fuses and switches show no evidence of mechanical damage;
(h) Semi-enclosed rewireable fuses, where fitted, have not deteriorated due to arcing and have no exposed live parts when the fuse carrier is fitted into the fuse base.
(a) The current rating and breaking capacity of protective devices are appropriate for the circuits they protect;
(d) Live conductors are insulated or provided with a barrier requiring the use of a tool to gain access;
(i) The switchboard is constructed and installed in such a manner that, in the event of a fire, the spread of fire will be kept to a minimum.
