For our final newsletter of the year we thought we'd have a chat with Taskforce Managing Director and Founder Jason Bright. Following a motor racing career spanning almost 30 years, Jason started Taskforce in 2014 - this year marks the business's 10th anniversary.

How old were you when you first realised you wanted to be a racing driver?

For as long as I can remember I was going to car races with my father. I first started driving an old go-kart that my dad use to race when I was about 9 so it would have been about then that I started really dreaming about racing cars.

What’s the story behind Taskforce? What sparked the idea to set the business up, how did you come up with the name?

It occurred to me one day that tradies all operate as individuals and that there was an opportunity to help them all work together, save them money, generate more work for them and if it works for everyone then we can all make a dollar out of it.

What’s harder - running a business or running a race team?

To be honest, both have their challenges and many of them are the same challenges. One of the biggest is finding the right people. The people who make up your team, whether it's a race team or in a business, are key to your success.

What’s your top tip for someone starting their own business?

Invest in finding the right people for your team - support them, empower them and then the rest falls into place.

What do you like best about being part of Taskforce?

Solving problems and innovating for our customers. It's incredibly satisfying to see the same challenges or pain points as everyone else, yet come up with a different and improved solution.

Tell us about your funniest memory at Taskforce?

One day I didn't realise our software developer Neeschal was still in the office and I packed up, turned the alarm on and locked him in when I left! I then got a phone call from him complete with the alarm blaring in the background. Luckily he's the nicest guy in the office so he didn't give me too much grief for it...

What was the biggest highlight of your racing career? And your business career so far?

Biggest highlight of my racing career was racing an Indycar in the 2000 Gold Cost Indycar Event. In business it would have to be winning this year's Telstra Best of Business Award in Victoria for Outstanding Growth - a great way to celebrate 10 years of Taskforce.

What’s your favourite coffee spot in your hood?

Can’t go past Dutton's Garage Cafe around the corner from our office - great coffee, great people and a lot of great cars to look at.

If you were to hold a Bunnings sausage sizzle what cause would you be raising money for?

Would have to be homelessness - everyone deserves a roof over their head.
