A concrete countertop is a great addition to your home, with its gorgeous finish and embedded objects. However, it may easily become tiresome to your eyes without proper care. Sealing and waxing are required to maintain its beauty.

Use the Right Products

Almost every manufacturer claims that their product is the finest. Some of them are truly premium while others fall short of their promises. What you must bear in mind is, there is no wax or sealer that is suitable for all countertops. Make sure the product has been formulated for the type of countertop that you have to avoid damages.

Seal First

Seal the concrete countertop thoroughly before waxing. The seal will shield it from oils, acids, and other chemicals which can cause stains and deterioration. Epoxy, acrylic, lacquer, and urethane are the most common ingredients.

Then Wax

The concrete sealer is not enough to protect the countertop from burns and scratches. Get some protection against misplaced hot pots and pans and spilled tomato sauce by applying wax.

Study the product first. Make sure the wax has been formulated for the type of countertop that you have to gain the right finish and protection. Stick to the manufacturer’s instructions and never ignore safety precautions.

Countertop cleaning experts advise three coats of concrete wax using an applicator pad or a towel that is made of 100% cotton. Moisten the pad with clean water, squeeze to release excess water, and then get a reasonable amount of wax. Move in a tight, circular motion and pay attention to difficult areas. It is advised to keep the circle small so you can work on the area thoroughly before the wax hardens. Re-wax as needed.

Make your concrete countertop dazzle by spraying it with a gorgeous polish. Immediately after spraying, spread the polish using a clean, fine cloth. Use a gentle movement for a fine finish.
