5 DIY Projects for the Aspiring Beginners

Do It Yourself Projects, or DIYs, have become immensely popular in today's life. There are so many projects out there, that it can get confusing as to where to begin. This is even more taxing if one is not familiar with basic working tools. Thankfully, we've curated a list of simple DIY projects for your convenience.

1. Wood Shelves

Making shelves out of wood should be thoroughly mastered since this process is usually used in more complex projects later. Working with wood is always preferred due to the constant supply of the material. It can either be bought new or used in the form of scraps lying around here and there.

2. Metal Shoe Hangers

Effectively recycling old clothes hangers into newer hangers for shoes will surely help you become comfortable working with metal, and other processes like bending and cutting. Further, painting the old metal to create a fancy new look is another skill that can be learnt with the help of this projects. Like wood, metal is another important metal often used in bigger DIY projects.

3. Sharpie Mug

The sharpie mug project is a very easy and fun project that will definitely seem enticing and welcoming to the average beginner. Choose a mug according to your preference and transform it with your carvings, drawings or even some funky text on the surface. Baking these worked upon mugs in the oven for a certain amount of time will ensure that your patterns are permanent. Although this project does not involve any woodworking tools, it will open up a new vista of surface carving and drawing altogether.

4. Tea Light Holder

A Tea Light Holder can be easily made out of wood, using simple woodworking tools. In the course of this project, valuable lessons on measuring and cutting can be learnt quite well. Besides this, you can also experiment with the colors used to paint the tea holder, thus unleashing your creativity.

5. Wood Arrow Décor

After getting comfortable with the previous DIY projects, take on this project to whet your skills in woodworking even further. This project involves angled cuts, something that is a little more advanced than the beginner level. After mastering this skill, all sorts of projects like wooden doormats and picture frames seem easily doable. This project also requires the use of a special tool for miter saw which is important for most DIY projects. Prevent waste of resources by leaving more complex tasks to somebody who has earned a lot of training in the field of carpentry.
