Whether a house has brick, stucco, wood or stone sidings, the soffits, trim and fascia around windows and doors are usually made of wood. This material is a popular option as an exterior trim that will emphasize the architecture of a home and add further curb to the entire structure. Given that trim demands less material compared to framing and siding, it is cheaper to repair, maintain and replace. Trim, thus, is a cost efficient choice.

Although painting trim doesn’t require technical skills, you may still want to leave the job to a professional painter so you can enjoy a beautiful weekend. More importantly, this job will require you to get to high places and if you’re not careful enough you could get injured. Hiring a professional painter will save you time and money, and will guarantee a commendable result.

Wood Trim Alternatives and Alterations

The major downside of having wood siding is the amount of labor you have to pour for its upkeep. If you leave it exposed to outdoor elements, it can stain, warp, crack or deteriorate. If you’re not prepared for this labor-intensive process, consider other options such as aluminum, vinyl or steel.

If you can’t replace the wood trim, try to wrap it with a vinyl or metal product that appears liked wood on the outside so you can still enjoy the sense of authenticity this material has to
